An ATV paradise in the Big horn Mountains of Wyoming

Brian recently packed up the family and headed west to ride the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming. The Bighorn National Forest covers over a million acres of spectacular Ponderosa Pine covered hills and beautiful open park meadows. You can enjoy unbelievable views on the mountain as you travel the 600+ miles of off-hwy roads and ATV trails. There is more wildlife to see than you could ever imagine possible and you can fish in some of the best mountain streams and lakes found anywhere – an incredible place to vacation!

Brian and his family stayed at the Elk View Inn for this adventure where they rented ATVs for the duration of their stay. This is one of the three main lodges (Bear Lodge Resort, Elk View Inn and Arrowhead Lodge) available in this area owned by Rick and Roberta Young. The Elk View Inn is nestled atop the Big Horn Mountains at Burgess Junction just over 8,000 feet in elevation.

The history is fascinating on the mountain. Once you are there, you begin to understand why the Big Horn Mountains were the summer home of many of the Plains Indian Tribes. If you look closely on your hikes, you might see evidence of the past. Step back into prehistoric times as you see petroglyphs and pictographs from the Ancient Ones who passed through or walk in the tracks of dinosaurs who roamed these grounds millions of years past.

Whether you enjoy ATV riding, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, camping, bird watching, wildlife photography, snowmobiling, snowshoeing or cross country skiing, this is a destination everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime!
